During the late evening/early morning hours of August 26th & 27th and September 2nd & 3rd, deputies of the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office working with deputies of the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office will be conducting increased DUI enforcement patrols along the US Hwy 395 and SR 208 corridors.
National traffic studies have shown that increased targeted patrols “provide an increased risk of detection and apprehension”, thereby reducing the number of impaired drivers willing to risk driving while impaired.
This enforcement detail is partially paid for by a grant from the State of Nevada Department of Highway Traffic Safety.
Douglas County Sheriff Ron Pierini stated, “The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office is committed and focused on keeping the roads and highways of our community safe. As part of that effort, we will be conducting additional traffic enforcement details when resources allow, particularly targeting distracted or intoxicated drivers”.
Sheriff Pierini reminds all persons who consume alcoholic beverages to catch a ride with a sober driver or utilize a local taxi service.
