The Keysone Avenue on-ramp to I-80 eastbound will be closed beginning at 10 p.m. Friday, June 24th, until 5 p.m. Friday, July 1st , according to the Nevada Department of Transportation.
The closure will allow Granite Construction Co. to construct a new auxillary lane on I-80 eastbound between the Keystone Avenue on ramp and the Virginia Street off ramp. Once completed, the new auxillary lane will reduce congestion and improve safety by allowing a better merge to and from the on and off ramps.
Motorists are advised to use an alternate route during the closure. NDOT is recommending motorists take I-80 westbound to the west McCarran Boulevard exit and then take the on ramp to I-80 eastbound.
The work is part of the $72 million I-80 Design/Build project, awarded to Granite Construction Co. and Atkins, to improve I-80 from Robb Drive to Vista Boulevard. The project involves replacing the concrete on I-80 from Keystone Avenue to Fourth Street, various ramp improvements as well as installing Intelligent Transportation System (ITS), signing and striping improvements throughout the corridor. The project is expected to be completed in late 2012.
