Accidental Firearms Discharge

On Thursday evening, April 7th, 2011, Douglas County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a call of a gunshot incident at a residence in the 300 block of Quaking Aspen Dr, Stateline NV.

Upon arrival at the location, deputies found two adult males inside the residence. One of the males had suffered a gunshot wound to the upper right leg.

Investigation and statements from both parties revealed the subjects to be roommates. The subjects had been cleaning firearms together in a bedroom at the residence. During this procedure, one of the subjects accidentally discharged a firearm, a .41 caliber revolver, which had been reloaded with ammunition after cleaning. The discharged bullet struck the other roommate, causing the injury.

The injured male was flown by CalStar to Renown Hospital in Reno, where he underwent surgery to remove the bullet, which had fragmented after striking his femur.

The incident has been deemed accidental, and no criminal charges are pending.

The names of the involved parties are being withheld at request
