2nd Annual Sheriff’s Council Event Coming in May

Facing ever-increasing budget shortages, the Placer County Sheriff’s Office is more grateful than ever for the assistance of its non-profit supporter, the Placer County Sheriff’s Council.

A group of business and community leaders formed the council in 2004 to fill the gap between the public’s need for increasing law enforcement services and tightening county budgets. They previously purchased vital equipment such as Tasers, ballistic shields and pepperball gun systems, in addition to new honor guard uniforms.

The recent raffle of a rifle donated by Sacramento Black Rifle in Rocklin resulted in a generous donation of more than $7,000 to the Sheriff’s Office. Much of the money has been used to purchase more Tasers.
The Sheriff’s Council is planning its second annual Community Services Expo on May 21 at Del Oro High School in Loomis, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The public is invited to this free event that includes multi-agency law enforcement and fire displays, free health screening, food vendors, exhibitors and more.

This year, organizers have added a car show to this popular event. Anyone interested in displaying their vintage vehicle may call Darrell Williams at (530) 906-7085. Car registration is $35 until May 1, then $45 until May 13. Registration is limited to 150 vehicles.
